Dorothy Hong’s superb performance landed her with silver and 2 bronze medals in the 6-day swimming competition at the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia. Hong also established two new Philippine records in the 50m [29.96 seconds] and 100m [1 minute, 3.69 seconds] backstroke events, the latter previously held by Olympian Akiko Thomson for 19 years.
Other silver medalists are swimmer Jessie Lacuna [200m Freestyle] and diving duo Rexel Ryan Fabriga and Jaime Asok [10m Platform Sync].
Ryan Arabejo managed to bag the bronze in the 1500m Freestyle on the 6th and final day of the swimming competition. The men’s relay team also bagged the bronze in the 4x100m and 4x200m Freestyle events. Divers Cesile Domenios and Sheila Mae Perez also nabbed the third spot in the Women’s 3m Springboard Sync.
Although finalists Johansen Aguilar and Dhill Anderson Lee failed to make the podium in their respective events, they were able to set a new Philippine record in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly events respectively.
